Botanical Woo: Basics of Botany + Connecting With Place

Botanical Woo: Basics of Botany + Connecting With Place

Saturday April 9th from 9am-1pm with break for lunch<3

Learn a few of the many ways to communicate and relate to the kingdom of flora! Botanist and herbalist Lee and Fino invite you on a beautiful hike amongst the wildflowers in the Santa Monica Mountains. Together we will learn identifying characteristics of plant families and how they are related to one another. In Lee’s words dig into “why latin is fucked up but also really helpful and important.” We will learn botany in context through the lens of relating and connecting to our plant friends and building a sense of place by beginning to recognize plants as extended family and understanding their families, relatives, and kin.

On our (3/4) mile hike we will be guided through multiple plant meditations, journaling exercises, and basic botany skills! Accessibility wise we will be venturing on a moderately strenuous hike with lots of stops, at times in full sun, potentially warm weather and you will have pack&carry your own water and food!

class is limited to 12 folks. sliding scale / trade spots available. please email fino at sssnakeroot@gmail.com to inquire about sliding scale.

LOCATION TBA - we will let you know about a week before class depending on the BLOOM - we will be in the Santa Monica mountain range.
